How To Know God
Recognize God's Plan for Your Life. God loves you and has a plan for your life. He wants you to have a personal relationship with him, guide your life in everything you do, and give you eternal life. The Bible says: "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall have eternal life." (John 3:16)
Realize Our Problem. All people are sinners by nature and by choice. Our sin separates us from God, keeps us from fulfilling God's plan for our life, and prevents us from enjoying eternal life in heaven. The Bible says: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." (Romans 3:23)
Respond to God's Provision. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins so we can be forgiven and we can have eternal life. The Bible says: "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)
Receive Jesus as Lord and Savior. We must confess our sins to Jesus, believe he is God's Son, place or faith in him, and commit our lives to his Lordship. The Bible says: "That if you confess with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with you mouth that you confess and are saved." (Romans 10:9-10)
Prayer of Commitment: Lord Jesus, I believe you are God's Son. I believe you died on the cross for my sins and were resurrected from the dead. Please forgive my sins. Come into my heart to be my Lord and Savior. Give me the gift of eternal life in heaven. Help me to live with you as the Lord of my life. Thank you for saving me. Amen.
